Brian Hall
Expert in Human Values and Founder of the Values Technology
Dr Brian Hall’s primary work has been in Values Research. Founding a research institution, the Center for Values and Meaning in 1970, Brian posited that there are 125 values that underpin human behaviour. President of the Center until 1979, Brian became a tenured professor at the University of Santa Clara in California, where he developed measurement instruments for the 125 values system, that included document scan analysis, group and individual measurement.
In 1993 Dr Hall co-founded Values Technology, assuming the roles of Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer. Values Technology is committed to the development of tools and methodologies to improve the value adding capabilities of intangible assets, developing a gender and culture inclusive survey enabling the measurement and analysis of personal values. This has led to ground breaking work in cultural alignment and organizational transformation.

His speciality is the development of tools and methods for values measurement that enable leaders of international organizations to improve the alignment and agility of those institutions, while at the same time improving the quality of life for those within them. Engaging with these issues not only makes them more competitive, but allows them to be more in harmony with the modern business environment. Since values transcend culture, the work is particularly helpful in integrating international institutions.
Selected Publications: Brian Hall has published over 25 books on values and many other articles. His earlier work included a 3 volume set titled ‘Values Clarification as Learning Process’ that was used extensively in Canada and the United States in High Schools. More recent Publications include ‘Values Shift: Understanding Human and Organizational Development’ (Twin Lights Publication, 1994), and ‘The Genesis Effect’ (Paulist Press, 1986).

Dr Hall is an international values consultant to education, government, and the industry all over the world. He works extensively in Asia, Europe, and Latin America and in North America.
Dr Hall has consulted to numerous organizations, using the values measurement tools for cross cultural analysis and alignment in global companies, including Siemens, Alcoa, and the Mutual Group. In recent years, Dr Hall has been working extensively with organizations such as the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Mitsubishi, and Telus Corporation.
