Peter Wright
Former VP HR director of BP Refining & Marketing
Peter was born in London into a Military family and spent the early part of his life growing up in Asia Pacific. After school he attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and was commissioned into the British Army in 1974 and subsequently went to Cambridge University between 1975 -1978. He served as an Army Officer in various parts of the world between 1974 and 1985 before deciding to change career and enter the business world. He spent 10 years with Unilever during a time of significant change for the Anglo Dutch company.
After senior Human Resources positions in Allied Domecq and Merril Lynch, Peter was appointed Vice President of Human Resources for Estee Lauder International in 2000 based in New York.
More recently he returned to the UK in 2005 to take up his current role of Vice President, Human Resources for the 80,000 people that make up the Refining & Marketing Division of BP plc.
Aside from the first hand experience gained from operating in global roles in different industries and geographies, Peter is recognised as an authority on the subject of “managing change”. He is a regular speaker at conferences and has lectured at Babson College School of Executive Education.
He brings a very thought provoking style to the subject and is in the process of writing his first book entitled “Change Management is Dead Long Live Managing Change”
